Become a Citizen Science Ambassador!

Attention teen leaders!

Are you looking for a new and creative way to make a difference? We invite you to be a leader in spreading the word about citizen science and how it can empower youth to help change the world.

We are looking for creative and adaptable teen leaders (ages 13-18) to partner with the Citizen Science Association, 4-H, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to become Citizen Science Ambassadors. Ambassadors will craft a social media campaign designed to connect youth citizen scientists, collect their stories, and share them with the world. This social media campaign will invite young people from around the globe to create 15 second videos on why they love participating in citizen science.

These videos will form a collection that showcases the incredible diversity of citizen science projects. Partnering organizations will use this collection to help motivate other teens and adults to join in the citizen science revolution. We are looking for teen leaders who are passionate about outreach, social media, and citizen science. Ambassadors will help create the messaging, target interested youth, choose platforms and hashtags, and curate video submissions.

Ambassadors will be expected to dedicate 8-10 hours of their time from mid-February to mid-May, 2017. These hours will include attending at least three of four online, one-hour planning sessions and four hours of at-home creative feedback/planning time. Ambassadors are also expected to create their own video for the campaign.

You’ll have the opportunity to connect with youth leaders around the country while developing leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Ambassadors who fulfill these commitments will also be recognized by the Citizen Science Association, 4-H, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology with a certificate for their contributions to the campaign.
