BirdSleuth in the Amazon!

ACTS walkwayJoin us in the Amazon!

We are planning a special trip for July 9-18, 2017 in Peru, with a special focus on BirdSleuth educational approaches and rainforest birds! We will visit Explorama’s Napo Lodge, the amazing Amazon Conservatory for Tropical Studies (ACTS) Field Station, and spend a night rejuvenating at a riverside resort on this 10-day Amazon expedition. In addition to daily birding (and monumentally growing our eBird life lists), we’ll investigate along the ACTS walkway in the rainforest canopy, visit Amazon communities, float the river, explore the animals that make the river-basin home both during the day and night, and participate in hands-on activities that you can take back to your classroom.

Projected costs for this amazing 10-day retreat is $2395, plus flights from your home to Lima and then between Lima and Iquitos (approximately $1500 total).  Registration and our complete itinerary can be found at our partner for the excursion, Amazon Rainforest Workshops. We hope you will join us!

These amazing photos are thanks to Phil Kahler, a teacher who has represented the BirdSleuth program in Amazon Rainforest Workshops in 2014 and 2015. These are just a few of the birds we are likely to see! (Top Image: Green-and-gold Tanager. Bottom images: Chestnut-eared Aracari, Glittering-throated Emerald, Pied Lapwing, and Amazon Kingfisher.)
