Happy Helping Hands

To tie our study of fractions in math and our need for bird seed trays, my students turned the classroom into a workshop! We had a parent donate wood and some simple tools, and I brought in a few things from home and we built 16 bird seed trays. The parent group was kind to support this effort with $50, but the seed purchased did not last long so I spent my own money to keep the feeders full through the hard winter. The students I have servicing the feeders are a small group of mentally and physically disabled students that get much joy seeing the birds at 'their' feeders. With a grant we would be able to add to the feeders and keep them full of seed. This would make my students and our feathered friends very happy.
