The “Build Your Own Bluebird House Project” was an idea of Randy Mays and Gerardo Linares, at Copeland Elementary School. The goal of the project was to teach a group of seven boys in 5th grade to work as a team with a positive role model and healthy behaviors. The project also taught the students to set up a goal and have their own project that started from scratch and went through different stages till accomplishment, like in life. The students were proud of themselves and happy to take the bluebird houses home or leave them at school. We will also learn how to identify different birds and monitor our houses throughout the nesting season.
