Crooked Tree, Belize
On Thursday 30th April the first ever bird fair was held in Crooked Tree Village. The theme for the Bird Fair at the Crooked Tree Government School was “It’s all about our birds. Learn…Participate…Enjoy!” The fair was held by the Belize Audubon Society with participation of our friends from the Belize Zoo, Belize Bird Rescue and Belize Raptor Center, Scarlet Six Biomonitoring Team, and the Belize Tourism Board. We shared our passion for bird conservation in hopes of inspiring future conservation leaders, bird guides, and bird scientists from among the children living in the buffer communities of the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary.
“Strengthening bird-based tourism as a conservation and sustainable development tool” a project being implemented in Belize by the Belize Audubon Society with funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the National Audubon Society.
