Our student magazine, BirdSleuth Investigator, is available as a free download!
Kids from around the country went outside and watched birds. They got curious about the “whens, wheres, whys and hows” of the birds they observed, and they figured out the answers to the questions they were interested in, sometimes through innovative studies that they designed. We invite you and your students and children to explore what they found in our beautifully illustrated magazine!
- Do Black-capped Chickadees prefer a certain time of day to visit?
- Do hummingbirds prefer feeders up high or feeders down low?
- The frugal backyard birder: maximizing variety and minimizing cost
Our annual publication, written by and for students, is also beautifully illustrated by these K-12 kids. We think you’ll be amazed at their great work!
You can view or print BirdSleuth Investigator 2017 and any archived BirdSleuth Investigators by clicking the green button. You may also order hard-copy issues of the most recent BirdSleuth Investigator for $2.00 each from our online store. Classroom/group sets are discounted so you can share with all your students.
YOUR students can get their work published next year! Our complete Investigating Evidence downloadable unit helps educators guide their students in scientific investigations, from question to conclusion, while meeting science standards. We also have a new self-paced course, Integrating Inquiry for Educators: Developing Student Science Practices, which is designed to help educators explore the process of inquiry and scientific investigation, especially as inspired by outdoor observations and citizen-science participation.
Send us your student’s work for consideration in the next BirdSleuth Investigator! We are now accepting submissions through Saturday, June 30th, 2018. Read the submission guidelines for details.
